Justine Koontz, Composer, Conductor

Greetings! I'm a composer and conductor from central Maryland. I've written a lot of music for choir & chamber ensembles. I conduct church and community choirs. I'm curious about other people, identity, and thinking big thoughts, and that all finds its way into my musical work. I'm also into Baltic music, 20th & 21st century music and conducting premieres, ballet & modern dance, gardening, and fine craft.

New!

I'm starting an email newsletter! No, I'm not out to spam you with ads.

I'll let you know about what I'm working on, what I'm thinking about, what new recordings & pieces I have available, and some things about my conducting activities, too. It will be sent out at least twice a year and no more than four times a year.

Coming in fall 2023:

My community choir Program Choir of Baltimore is currently putting together the 2023-2024 season. We're planning on performing Britten's "Ceremony of Carols" in December 2023 (rehearsals start in October). Please visit the Program Choir of Baltimore website HERE for more info, or HERE if you're interested in singing with us.

Planning music for next year?

Need a new Christmas piece for SATB a cappella choir? Check out Lullay

Here's an SATB a cappella piece that can work as an Introit or a short anthem: I Was Glad

And a newer work available for both TTBB and SSAA: The Builders (this one still needs a premiering ensemble!)
